Quand'è che la passione si trasforma in un mestiere, direi anche in un modo di vivere? Quando capita come a Lorenzo, che fin dalla sua più tenera età oltre a cercare il contatto con la natura, è riuscito nel tempo a comprendere come prepararsi al meglio per trasformare un bagaglio di emozioni in un mestiere e in quello che ormai è diventata la sua vita.

When passion turns into a profession, would I also say into a lifestyle? When it happens like Lorenzo, who in addition to seeking contact with nature from an early age, has managed to understand how to best prepare himself to transform a wealth of emotions into a job and ultimately into what is now his life.

"I miei genitori avevano una casa in Val Pellice dove andavamo durante i week end e per le vacanze estive; io allora ero molto piccolo eppure credo di avere scoperto l'amore per la natura proprio grazie a quei luoghi di vacanza. Probabilmente è come se si fosse attivato dentro di me qualcosa di silenzioso che fin dalla mia tenera età ha fatto il suo corso prendendo sempre più forza per portarmi, intorno ai miei 15 anni, a comprendere quello che della natura mi affascinava: il rapporto con le meravigliose api"

"My parents had a house in Val Pellice where we went on weekends and for holidays; I was very young and yet I think I discovered the love for nature from an early age and thanks to those vacation spots. It is probably as if something silent had been activated inside me that from my tender age ran its course and gained more and more strength to the point that around my 15 years I realized that what fascinated me about nature was the relationship with the wonderful bees"

"Ormai quindicenne, quando da Torino dove vivevamo salivamo in Valle, io passavo i miei fine settimana con un apicoltore del posto che probabilmente un po' sopportava la mia curiosità, le mie domande e un po' lasciava che lo seguissi per carpire tecniche e segreti del suo mestiere. L'anno dopo ho conosciuto un altro apicoltore, più giovane, con il quale sono da subito entrato in sintonia e che mi ha spiegato a fondo il mondo delle api facendo schizzare alle stelle il mio entusiasmo e infatti mi rendevo conto di quanto la mia passione fosse ormai arrivata al punto di non ritorno, ma allo stesso tempo avevo compreso che avrei dovuto studiare per raggiungere la preparazione di base: di fronte allo stupore dei miei genitori anzichè iscrivermi al liceo ho iniziato gli studi superiori in un istituto agrario. E' stato quello il primo passo verso ciò che nel tempo ho poi costruito e cioè quella che io chiamo la bolla del mio micromondo naturale, una bolla che funziona!"

"I was fifteen when from Turin where we lived, me and my family went to the Pellice Valley and i spent my weekends bothering a local beekeeper who probably put up with me a little and a little let me follow him to spy the techniques and secrets of his metier. The following year I met a much younger beekeeper, with whom I immediately got in tune and who thoroughly explained the world of bees : I learned from him many of the techniques I still use today. I had reached the point of no return of my passion, but what I was missing was studying to obtain a diploma that would provide me with the basic preparation and to my parents' immense amazement instead of enrolling in high school I started higher studies in an agricultural institute: perhaps that was the real concrete step of the the journey that led me towards what I started to build, what I call the bubble of my natural microworld: and it works!"

Prima di continuare a raccontare la storia di Lorenzo faccio un breve inciso. Dovete sapere che questo sito cerca continuamente tutte quelle realtà che operano senza che il lato economico prevalga su quello della qualità degli alimenti, della salute dei loro terreni e di quella dell'ambiente. Sono persone che indubbiamente si trovano a dovere agire controcorrente rispetto ad un sistema che premia le aziende della catena alimentare industriale, che agevola la globalizzazione soffocando la localizzazione; sono individui che sanno bene che la politica distrae economie per se stessa e i suoi pochi accoliti, mercifica i terreni trasformandoli in cemento, partorisce leggi per promuovere l'outsourcing ed ecco che le banche provvedono ad aiutare esclusivamente le grandi industrie del cibo che inquinano gravemente la terra risiedendo nel nord del mondo ma facendo confezionare e finire le loro merci nell'est o nel sud del pianeta sfruttando lavoratori e favori fiscali, per poi vedere rientrare i loro prodotti in sede pronti per essere nuovamente spediti ovunque. Questi signori non pagano per il pianeta che ci stanno consumando perchè lo fa la collettività al loro posto e cioè noi tutti e quindi va da sé che non sia certo la rete contadina di prossimità ad essere agevolata mentre sarebbe l'unica soluzione per ridurre la nostra impronta ecologica ed è per questo motivo che quando incontro una persona come Lorenzo non posso che emozionarmi di fronte a quello che fa, alla passione radicata, alla limpidezza di pensiero, di progettualità e quindi di azione che possiede, perchè sono fermamente convinto che le molte realtà contadine come la sua agiscono sul territorio salvando veramente la terra; non come l'ultima inutile COOP26 che dovrebbe operare per il green deal, ma che invece non ha portato a termine nemmeno una delle tante cose che si era prefissata e che servirebbero, anzi! Sono riusciti a scrivere un documento di accordo minimamente decente e poi durante la giornata di fine lavori hanno dovuto dichiarare che quel documento è stato smontato, riscritto e reso pressochè inutile per colpa dell'India e della Cina che non intendono correre ai ripari riducendo l'uso dei combustibili fossili. Quindi per favore, credetemi quando vi dico che le storie che troverete qui su questo sito sono testimonianze di chi sta REALMENTE agendo per tutelare la terra, i territori e la nostra salute alimentare ma bisognerebbe fare il piccolo sforzo di acquistare nelle loro terre sane o nei luoghi magari più vicini a noi dove quei prodotti vengono commercializzati: ma torniamo al nostro giovane che fa l'apicoltore e non solo quello...

I make a short aside. You must know that this site continuously seeks all those people who work in contact with their land without the economic side ever prevailing over that of the quality of the products they create and the health of their land and the environment. They are people who undoubtedly find themselves having to act against the tide with respect to a system that rewards companies in the industrial food chain, which facilitates globalization and stifles localization; they are individuals who know well that politics distracts economies from itself and its few acolytes, that laws are created to subsidize outsourcing and therefore banks only help the large food multinationals and certainly not the neighboring peasant network and this is why when I meet a person like Lorenzo i can only get excited in front of what he does and the clarity of thought, planning and therefore of action he possesses, because I am firmly convinced that there are many peasant realities such as Lorenzo's that are saving the ecology and the environment, while the COOP26 that should had work to reach the green deal did not complete even one of the many things that it had set itself and that would be useful: all the representatives of countries stting in their cushy chairs managed to write a minimally decent document and then during the day of completion of the work they had to declare that document was dismantled, rewritten and made almost useless, due to India which together with the China does not want to know anything about taking action to reduce the use of fossil fuels. So please believe me when I tell you that the stories you will find here on this site are testimonies of those who are really taking action to protect the land, the territories and our food health... But let's go back to our young beekeeper and more.

"Per questo motivo ho cercato e trovato un terreno in Val Pellice a Bricherasio, in condizioni talmente pessime che chiunque si stupiva e probabilmente in cuor suo era convinto che non avrei combinato nulla di buono, essendo un giovane alle prime armi e senza esperienza: ma questo era quello che credevano loro...

E infatti sono riuscito a bonificare tutto quell'appezzamento di terra sia nella parte alta a gradoni dove c'era una vecchia vigna, che nella parte bassa completamente paludosa e quindi adesso mi ritrovo con un terreno fertile, all'interno del quale passa un corso d'acqua e che in alto possiede anche una zona boschiva che mantiene vivi tutti quegli insetti competitor di quelli dannosi per le coltivazioni"

"For this reason I looked for and found a piece of soil in Pellice Valley in Bricherasio town, in such bad conditions that anyone was surprised and probably was convinced that I would not have done anything good being a novice and inexperienced young man: that was their opinion... In fact I managed to reclaim all the land both in the upper part with steps uphill where there was an old vineyard, and in the lower part completely swampy and therefore now I find myself with fertile soil and which also has a wooded part at the top that i need it because it keeps alive all those competing insects of aphids and other insects harmful to the crops"

"A tutt'oggi ho 32 anni e da 6 anni lavoro con la mia azienda agricola; ho acquistato un secondo appezzamento che porta la mia terra a 3 ettari di estensione e servo i miei clienti sia vendendo sul mio terreno che facendo consegne a casa. Dopo due anni di apicoltura ho iniziato ad introdurre i frutti di bosco, poi un frutteto e quindi l'orticoltura nella quale uso semi antichi sia locali che non; ma il magico rapporto che si instaura soprattutto tra i frutti di bosco che io coltivo e le mie api per me è affascinante: sono proprio quei frutti che per la loro natura nascono grazie all'impollinazione delle api, perchè non riescono ad andare a frutto senza gli insetti impollinatori"

Uso dello stallatico che prendo da un'azienda agricola di montagna vicina, l'humus di lombrico invece me lo fornisce un amico che lo prepara in maniera naturale"

"I feed my land with green manures, mainly legumes; as soon as they bloom I turn the pans into the ground in order to better nourish the soil with natural methods. I use natural fertilizer and get the manure from a nearby mountain farm, just as I get earthworm humus from a friend who prepares it naturally"

"Un altro rimedio che utilizzo, al quale tengo particolarmente, è a base di funghi micorritici che stimolano il rizoma e tutta la parte interrata delle mie piante che, detto male, è un po' come stimolare il sistema respiratorio umano affinchè funzioni al meglio"

"Another remedy that I use and that I particularly care about are the treatments based on mycorrhitic fungi that help the rhizome and the whole underground part of my plants which, in a certain sense, is as if we stimulated the human respiratory system to work at its best"

Per Lorenzo vivere con le sue api e tutta la natura che sta costruendo intorno a loro significa vivere in quella sua bolla dove il sistema naturale resta autonomo e si salva da solo: a mio avviso lui è il direttore d'orchesta di quel micromondo del quale, anche se molti non se ne rendono conto, ne abbiamo un fondamentale e tremendo bisogno per nutrirci sempre meglio salvando l'ambiente che invece stiamo consumando.

Having his bees and all the nature he is building around them means for Lorenzo to live in that bubble of his where the natural system remains autonomous and saves itself: in my opinion he is the orchestra director of that natural microworld of which, even if many people they do not realize it, we have a fundamental need to nourish ourselves better and better while saving the environment instead of destroying it.

Bravo Lorenzo, non mollare e continua ad aggiornarti, a studiare, a ricercare, a sperimentare coinvolgendo sempre più persone nella tua magica ma allo stesso tempo razionale e funzionale meravigliosa avventura rurale.
