Per sintonizzarsi sulla lunghezza d'onda di Martina e Erica bisogna conoscere alcuni aspetti che le caratterizzano.

ATTI

- Martina ha studiato sviluppo e cooperazione internazionale con un master di ricerca in human geography and planning che sono due discipline essenziali per comprendere le complessità di città e regioni guidandone lo sviluppo sostenibile.

- Martina ha anche viaggiato all'estero, per poi rientrare in Italia e dopo qualche esperienza lavorativa, non proprio positiva, si è fatta rapire dal richiamo della terra di famiglia l'ambiente culla della sua infanzia e adolescenza.

- Erica è la compagna di Martina; fa l'educatrice socio pedagogica ed è lei che gestisce il contatto con il pubblico nei mercati ai quali partecipano; il progetto rurale "Rizoma" lo condividono totalmente in quanto getta le basi per il loro progetto professionale e di vita insieme.

- Martina studied development and international cooperation with a research master in human geography and planning which are the two essential disciplines to understand the complexities of cities and regions and guide their sustainable development.

- She traveled abroad, only to return to Italy and after some not so positive work experience she got carried away by "the call" of the family ground, that environment that rocked her throughout her childhood and adolescence.

- Erica is Martina's partner; she is a socio-pedagogical educator and she manages the contact with the public in the markets in which they participate; they fully share the rural project "Rizoma" as it lays the foundations for their project of life together.

FATTI E RITRATTI / DEEDS AND PORTRAITS

Martina ha una vocazione che si concentra molto sul concetto di "giustizia" e di "etica", probabilmente alimentata dagli studi e i viaggi all'estero fatti.

"Io sono sempre stata appassionata delle culture sudamericane per le quali il rapporto con la madre terra è fortissimo, personale, familiare e atavico; indubbiamente il fatto di avere studiato sviluppo e cooperazione internazionale mi ha agevolata nel fare ricerche e trovare una mia prima direzione che mi ha spinta anche all'estero e che però solo dopo mi ha portata sulla giusta strada", ma la direzione è un conto mentre la strada da percorrere è tutt'altro affare. Quando ci si incammina verso la giusta direzione e sulla strada esatta, accade che oltre ad andare verso un obiettivo, nel loro caso comune, non si rimanga sguarniti e tutto prenda forza perchè si possiedono gli strumenti per creare fermamente i risultati che porteranno alla gioia di assistere al buon esito delle cose; la curiosità insieme alla preparazione consentiranno poi di costruire le tappe di un percorso nel quale non si percepirà la "fine" del cammino: questa è la sensazione che ci farà capire di essere sul percorso giusto.

Martina is very attentive to the concept of "justice" and "ethics", probably also thanks to her studies and trips abroad. "I have always been passionate about South American cultures in which the relationship with mother earth is very strong, personal and atavistic; without a doubt the fact that I have studied development and international cooperation made it easier for me to do research and find my first direction. it also pushed abroad and that however led me to the right path ". Direction is one thing, while the way to go is another; when you are headed in the right direction but definitely on the right path, it means that in addition to going towards a goal, in their case, you have all the tools to firmly and continuously create the results that lead you to understand how much that's the right place, the place where you are. The rest is done by the joy of witnessing the success of the things you do and the curiosity that thanks to the preparation allow you to build the stages of your path and basically when ideas and possibilities come together in your head without perceiving the "end" of the path , then it means that the path is the right one.

Erica ha una predisposizione chiara e netta per il sociale e i rapporti interpersonali: è per questo che si occupa della vendita. "Perchè non pensare di poter inserire anche le nostre capacità accumulate con lo studio? La nostra terra, come qualsiasi terreno rispettato e agevolato nel rigenerarsi e vivere in salute, permette alle colture di affondare le radici quindi nascere, vivere e crescere; ma alla terra in fondo non interessa cosa prende vita, perchè lei fa il suo mestiere antico quello di dare semplicemente vita al seme. Perchè quindi non cercare di rendere questo nostro appezzamento di terreno un luogo che si trasformi, nel tempo, in un crogiolo di eventi e di esperienze; da quelle multi etniche a quelle didattiche per le scuole primarie, per educare i piccoli al cibo sano e reale e non agli alimenti della grande distribuzione dei supermercati dai quali derivano, inquinamento causato dalla plastica, gas serra, emissioni di CO2 dovute ai trasporti su gomma e sprechi alimentari irrefrenabili".

Erica has a clear predisposition for social and interpersonal relationships and that is why she takes care of sales. "Why not think that we can also use our skills accumulated with the study? Our land, like any land that is respected and facilitated in regenerating and living in health, allows crops to sink their roots, then be born, live and grow; but to the ground after all, it does not matter what comes to life, because she does her ancient job simply to give that life to the seed. So why not try to make the same thing in our plot of soil creating a transforming place, a melting pot of events and experiences; from multi-ethnic ones to educational ones for primary schools, to educate children about healthy and real food: not the food of the large distribution from which they derive, plastic pollution, greenhouse gases, CO2 and irrepressible waste of food".

Parlando con Martina mi rendo conto di quanto lei abbia ragione a perseguire un progetto globale come il loro e cercando di focalizzare il cuore dei vantaggi, si potrebbe dire che l'educazione rurale e alimentare, ma anche ecologica, tattile dei piccoli scolari (cosa che oggi non avviene) servirebbe a far loro comprendere che la terra sana può fornirci un'alternativa alimentare genuina, vera e accessibile e che se dico "pomodoro" non esistono solo i ciliegini, i piccadilly o quelli da sugo ma sono almeno 14 le varietà italiane con altrettante specifiche proprietà alimentari; se nomino le zucchine subito affiorano alla mente quelle verdissime e grandi, quelle piccole chiare col fiore o quelle a palla, mentre varrebbe la pena conoscere almeno altre 15 varietà differenti e se pensiamo ai finocchi dovremmo subito associarli al fatto che quando la sfreghiamo tra le dita la loro barba verde profuma intensamente e non ci sono quindi esclusivamente quelli insapore e incelofanati nella vaschetta di plastica del supermarket.

Talking with Martina I realize how right she is and trying to focus on the heart of the problem, it could be said that generally rural and food education, but also that ecological and tactile education of the little schoolchildren (which is not the case today) would help us understand that the healthy earth can provide us with a genuine, true and accessible food alternative and that if I say "tomato" there are not only cherry tomatoes, piccadilly or the tomatoes for sauce but there are at least 14 Italian varieties with as many specific food properties; if I mention the zucchini, the very green and large ones immediately come to mind, the small light ones with the flower or the ball ones, while it would be worth knowing at least 15 other different varieties; if you think about fennel you should immediately associate them with the fact that when you rub its green beard between your fingers, perceive an intensely smell not the case of those covered in the plastic tray.

Martina adotta solo prodotti e tecniche naturali per proteggere i suoi raccolti.

"Non penso sia giusto evitare fatiche usando la chimica di sintesi che poi avvelena il terreno e danneggia la salute dei raccolti e delle persone che assimilano quei prodotti. Io adotto metodi più naturali; ad esempio con le ortiche che nascono abbondantemente e spontaneamente nei miei campi, creo dei macerati; oppure posso utilizzare l'olio di neem o ancora gestisco le erbacce aggressive con i teli di pacciamatura".

Questo tipo di scelta comporta chiaramente il fatto di produrre meno ma con qualità e di permettere a volte che malattie e aggressori in natura possano avere il sopravvento; questo accade nell'altro terreno che la famiglia di Martina possiede attorno alla loro casa sulle colline riminesi e dove prevalentemente si trovano le piante di ulivo, che putroppo a volte si ammalano proprio per il fatto che non vengono usati prodotti a base di chimica di sintesi ma esclusivamente naturali.

Martina uses only natural products and techniques to protect her crops.

"I do not think it is right to avoid fatigue by using synthetic chemistry which then poisons the soil and damages the health of the crops and of the people who eat those products. I adopt more natural methods; for example with the nettles that are born abundantly and spontaneously in my fields , I create macerates; or I can use neem oil or I manage aggressive weeds with mulch sheets "

This type of choice clearly implies the fact of producing less but with quality and of allowing at times that the diseases and the aggressors being in nature can have the upper hand; this happens in the other land that Martina's family owns around their house in the Rimini hills and where the olive trees are; trees that unfortunately sometimes get sick precisely because they do not use chemical-based synthetic products to protect trees but exclusively natural manners.

Martina e Erica hanno le idee chiare. Il progetto più importante è quello maggiormente a lungo termine, ma è molto intelligente perchè in pratica vorrebbero portare all'interno dell'attività agricola le loro esperienze professionali e di studio per creare iniziative aperte al pubblico in genere e che completino l'offerta; ristrutturando il rudere della foto in basso, potrebbero abitarci, creare uno spazio polifunzionale per ospitare sia turisti che gruppi per eventi anche didattici e, cosa importante, allestire un laboratorio per la trasformazione delle materie prime coltivate naturalmente.

Martina and Erica have clear ideas. The most important project is the most long-term one, but it is very intelligent because in practice they would like to bring their professional and study experiences into the agricultural activity to create initiatives open to the public in general and that complete the offer; by renovating the ruin (pic below), they will be able to live anc work there, creating a multifunctional space to host both tourists and groups for educational events and, importantly, set up a laboratory for the transformation of their naturally grown raw materials.

Non è la prima volta che incontro giovani agricoltori, donne o uomini, le cui azioni esprimono un pensiero profondo e per cui il concetto di biodiversità non va tutelato esclusivamente nella natura, ma risiede e si nutre della nostra mentalità, dei comportamenti che assumiamo in relazione con le persone. Biodiverso è il mondo fatto di persone che vivono intorno a noi, vicine o lontane e quindi credo di aver capito che la biodiversità, per loro due, risieda principalmente in un fatto culturale, educativo; non è possibile apprendere la cultura dell'ospitalità perché nasce da un rapporto molto personale che impariamo ad avere con noi stessi. La terra è già capace di ospitare naturalmente le differenze regalando vita, ma penso che anche loro siano persone dalle quali chiunque può assimilare, volendo, anche la buona cultura contemporanea che nasce da un meccanismo molto semplice: hanno deciso di dare alla terra ciò di cui lei ha bisogno, ottenendo in cambio salute e benessere dal suolo insieme a ciò che produce, valorizzando quella stessa esperienza per poter fare molto, ma davvero molto di più. Con le loro menti aperte si rivolgono generosamente a chiunque voglia conoscerle e questo è il meccanismo che crea cultura e nobilita; mettersi a disposizione della comunità per migliorare la vita di tutti.

It is not the first time that I meet young farmers, women or men, whose actions express a profound thought and for which the concept of biodiversity should not be protected exclusively in nature, but resides and feeds on our mentality, on the behaviors we assume in relation with people. Biodiverse is the world made up of people who live around us, near or far and therefore I believe I have understood that biodiversity, for the two of them, resides mainly in a cultural, educational fact; it's not possible learn the culture of hospitality because is born from a very personal relationship that we learn to have with ourselves. Their land is already capable of naturally hosting differences, giving them life but I think that they as well are people from whom anyone can also assimilate, if wanted, the good contemporary culture that is born from a very simple mechanism: they decided to give the earth what it needs, obtaining health and well-being from the soil and what it produces in exchange, but enhancing that same experience to be able to do a lot, but really much more. With thier open minds they open up to anyone who wants to know them and this is what creates culture and makes us better: the fact of making ourselves available to the community.
