"I dati del censimento agricolo e altre fonti statistiche focalizzate sullo sviluppo dell'imprenditoria femminile permettono di sottolineare la rilevante trasformazione della presenza delle donne in agricoltura: dalla sottomissione totale alla direzione maschile fino agli anni '50, la trasformazione industriale ha favorito poi un progressivo emergere della rilevanza femminile in agricoltura, anche come imprenditrici e tra le nuove forme multidimensionali di imprenditorialità " . Ma queste sarebbero le fredde parole di statische che non considerano la realtà storica del ruolo della donna all'interno della ruralità familiare e la sua fatica. Le donne in agricoltura sono state molto più umane, vere e forti, intendo le donne di ogni terra, rappresentando storicamente l'anello saldo delle micro catene rurali e, anche se con semplicità disarmante, l'evoluzione della figura femminile in agricoltura si è verificata spesso con fatti e gesti che ci lasciano spiazzati o con l'amaro in bocca. Nei fatti storici le donne sono state madri, mogli, cuoche e autrici di ricette povere, vedove di guerra, custodi di semi perchè facevano la semenza selezionando i frutti migliori dei raccolti, accudivano gli animali, li mungevano e soprattutto, sempre quelle stesse donne, hanno continuato a gestire l'agricoltura delle loro case durante la guerra fino all'epoca della rivoluzione industriale, mentre gli uomini entravano a lavorare nelle fabbriche che sempre più iniziavano ad aprire.

These are the cold and rhetorical words that do not take into account the historical reality of the role of women within the rural family and its fatigue. Women in agriculture have been much more real and strong, women of every land have historically represented the steadfast link of rural micro-supply chains and, even if with disarming simplicity, the evolution of the female figure in agriculture took place often with facts and gestures that leave us displaced. In historical facts, women have been mothers, wives, cooks of poor recipes, war widows, seed keepers because they made the seed by selecting the best crops, looked after the animals, milked and above all, are always those women who have continued in managing of agriculture during the two world wars and then at the time of the industrial revolution when men went to work in the factories that more and more began to open.
Tre anni fa ho avuto il piacere di portare a termine un road-doc, un documentario indipendente; un viaggio in Italia per parlare delle donne rurali e del loro modo di essere agricoltrici oggi in maniera maggiormente libera e impegnata su vari fronti (link al trailer) ; detto questo, quando parliamo di donne che oggi intraprendono un percorso agricolo ma con un progetto autonomo ed esclusivamente al femminile, dobbiamo credere al fatto che nella loro memoria atavica e ancestrale ci siano tracce di quella basilare importanza che hanno avuto le donne e grazie alla quale la campagna, tutta, per quasi 70 anni ha continuato a vivere, dopo di che sono arrivati figli e si spera continuino i nipoti.

Anyway when we talk about women who today embark on an rural path, but be careful, with an autonomous and exclusively female project, we must believe that in their atavistic memory, probably also in their ancestral memory, there are traces of that basic importance that they had in their simplicity and thanks to which the whole countryside continued to live for almost 70 years and then, sometimes it happens, children arrived and hopefully the grandchildren will continue.
Era importante che scrivessi queste parole per comprendere l'effetto che mi hanno fatto Silvia e Lisa due donne forti e che a mio parere rappresentano tutto ciò che di migliore può continuare a rendere onore a questo tipo di spaccato storico legato alle agricoltrici.
QUESTO E' INDUBBIAMENTE IL PRIMO ELEMENTO DEL LORO PROGETTO...
It was important that I write these words to enable you to realize the effect that Silvia and Lisa have impacted on me; two strong women who represent all the best that can continue to honor this type of historical cross-section linked to women farmers.

Il loro terreno si trova su un poggio in località "Le Poggere" dal quale si vedono sia Montefiascone (Vt) che, nelle giornate più limpide, il mare toscano. Circa 10 anni fa il papà di Silvia, con i soldi ricevuti a causa di un incidente, trova e acquista i 38 ettari di questo terreno all'interno del quale si trova anche un piccolo casale: ed è dai circa 4,5 ettari di vigneto che parte l'avventura vitivinicola di Silvia e Lisa che oltre ad essere insieme nell'impresa sono anche compagne nella vita e questo rende ancora più forte il progetto, ma immagino anche il loro legame visto che sono sposate.
QUESTO, PER ME, E' UN ELEMENTO DALL'ALTO VALORE AGGIUNTO
Their land is located on a hill from which you can see both the town of Montefiascone (province of Viterbo) and, on clear days, the Tuscan sea. About 10 years ago Silvia's father, with the money collected due to a bad road accident, found and bought these 38 hectares of land within which there is also a small farmhouse. Here, they cultivate about 4.5 hectares of vineyards which means the beginning of the adventure, definitely. Silvia and Lisa, who in addition to working together in the wine production are also life partners and this makes the project even stronger and probably strengthens their bond because they are happily married.
IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A FRIGGIN AWESOME ADDED ELEMENT
Dopo essere diventata sommelier, Silvia prende coscienza di quanto la spinta verso la coltivazione e vinificazione naturale sia forte in loro ed è cosi' che decidono di iniziare quest'avventura che proprio mentre sto scrivendo questo post, vede l'imbottigliamento delle loro prime bottiglie del 2019, di vini naturali e bianchi... Per adesso :)
After becoming a sommeiller, Silvia together with Lisa become aware of how strong the drive towards natural winemaking is in them and that's how they decide to start this adventure that just as I'm writing this post, sees the bottling of their first bottles (2019) of natural white wines, for now... But who knows what the (red) future holds :)
Silvia e Lisa hanno le idee molto chiare, anche in cantina, ma soprattutto sono forti e genune come serve che siano due donne che devono lavorare e faticare molto di più per il fatto di avere deciso di coltivare senza l'uso di chimica, quindi in maniera maggiormente sostenibile: con molti più sforzi e tecniche manuali. Il loro progetto rurale è stato già pensato per la conversione al biologico e la tecnica usata per governare i vitigni si basa su un metodo che rispetta il sistema vascolare delle viti e protegge la salute del legno.
They have very clear ideas, even in the wine-making cellar but, above all, they are strong and geniune as it is necessary that they work and toil much more in their vineyard where they cultivate without the use of chemistry and therefore using much more manual techniques.
Their rural project has already been designed for the conversion to organic and the technique used to manage the vines it's a method that respects the vascular flow of the vines and protects the health of their wood.
"Abbiamo anche un'idea per proteggere e aiutare i collaboratori stagionali. In questo territorio, dove l'agricoltura la fa da padrona, siamo in diverse aziende ad usare lavoranti stagionali e per la diversità delle colture coltivate lo facciamo in momenti diversi dell'anno; il fatto di condividere le stesse persone in qualità di collaboratori significherebbe farli lavorare continuativamente assicurando loro lavoro e guadagno", questo mi spiega Silvia mentre lavora sulle viti. Con lo stesso tipo di intelligenza e consapevolezza, l'idea della ristrutturazione e ampliamento della cascina è un progetto a scarso impatto ambientale.
QUESTO E' L'ENNESIMO ELEMENTO CHE ARRICCHISCE IL LORO PERCORSO RURALE
"We also have a project to protect and help seasonal collaborators. In this area, where agriculture reigns supreme, we are a group of owners of various and different kind of farms; we all use seasonal workers and because of the diversity of crops we produce at different times of the year, sharing the same people as collaborators would mean making them work continuously, ensuring them consistent earnings", this is the project that Silvia explains to me, as she continues to work on their vines. With the same kind of intelligence and awareness, they are projecting the renovation and extension of the farmhouse: a project with an environmental low-impact project
THIS IS THE UMPTEENTH ELEMENT THAT ENRICH THEIR RURAL PATH
"Poggio Bbaranello" è il nome che hanno deciso di dare alla loro attività , in onore al vento che spira da nord a sud e che nel dialetto locale si chiama appunto "bbaranello" proprio con due b; un vento quindi di tramontana che esalterà il gusto delle uve, la sapidità in genere e proteggerà le viti dalle malattie.
"Poggio Bbaranello" is the name they have decided to give to their enterprise, in honor of the wind that blows from north to south and which in the local dialect is called "bbaranello" with double b. therefore the "Bbaranello" is a north wind that will enhance the taste of the grape and its flavor in general and will protect the vines from diseases.
C'è una cosa che potrebbe sembrare meno importante ma che per me invece è un indicatore di menti brillanti in terre sane, ed è il fatto che facciano le cose con calma senza esagerare, a piccoli passi, quelli che Silvia e Lisa stanno gradualmente compiendo. E' l'unico modo per concedersi il tempo di riflettere e imparare meglio progredendo e migliorandosi continuamente.
...E QUESTO E' IL GUSTO FONDAMENTALE
I would like to stress one aspect that seems very important to me and it's an indicator of brilliant minds acting in healthy soils; it's the fact that Silvia and Lisa are taking things calmly without exaggerating, in small steps. It is the only way to make a journey by allowing yourself time to reflect and learn better by progressing and improving continuously.
